"Grandpa" Willy

Son, your 12 now and I think it's time I told you about my dad because I think your at the age where you'd understand a little better. I know I've talked about him before but I didn't tell you about a few things. I didn't tell you that grandpa Willy was a very tired man after his many years of a salesman and because he was so tired he started acting really strange. I noticed he was acting strange when your uncle Happy and I moved back home after living out in the world for a while. Grandma Linda was trying very hard to keep grandpa Willy happy and she loved him very much, as did your uncle and I, but we didn't treat him very well when we should have been helping him. Grandpa Willy was pretty old when he started acting funny and we got into a lot of arguments about how I was living my life. I see now what he was trying to do for me and I respect him for that. He taught me many things and I will tell you one of them is to always love your family and take care of each other, we may not always get a long but know that I love you very much son and no matter what I just want the best for you, even if sometimes it doesn't seem like it to you. I love you son, and I'm very proud of you and always will be. I just wish my father had told me that more often.

Linda's diary

Past:
Today was such a great day with the boys and Willy. Willy really loves talking with the boys about their sports and it makes me so happy seeing them happy together. Ben stopped by today and seems to be doing well. His success really motivates Willy and I hope he doesn't get carried away. Ben was a bit rough with my boy and I'm really not sure how I feel about that, I'm glad he stopped by to see Willy, but I'm also glad he's gone again.

Present:
Well the boys are home and I'm glad to see them but I'm so terribly worried about my dear Willy. He is such a tired man and needs his rest. I think he tried purposely wrecking the truck again... I'm just not sure what to do anymore. Why can't things go back to the way they were in the good old days when we were all happy and the boys were young and at home. The bills and stress just keep piling, I'm not sure how much more Willy or even I can take. God please help my family.

The Lottery "Stoning"

"The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson is a short story where a community stones one of there own by choice of the lottery. Stoning, in a way, happens in todays communities even if you dont notice it. Our version of stoning isn't quite as harsh as physically throwing stones at someone but it could be just as hurtful. We dont 'stone' people by chance but we do punish people for things we don't want them to be doing. Even if we agree with what someone is doing that the community disapproves of, we'll shun them because that is what the community wants and believes should be done and we don't speak up in fear of being shunned ourselves. An example of this is when people dress, talk, or act different (actually there's a bunch of examples, that just sums it up) people aren't comfortable with change or things that are different so they look away or shun those that are different. This doesn't happen as often now these days but it definitely still happens and it's a pretty sad site to see.

1) I can't believe he's gone...
2) I'm going to my room to be alone.
3) I feel so exhausted
4) It's such a beautiful day, why do i have to be so sad?
5) At least I'm not the only one that said...
6) omg! I'm free!
7) from now on I live for myself!
8) free! Body and soul free!
9) thanks, sis, for being here for me :)
10) what!?!?!

"Girl"Immatation

Alway be polite and say 'yes mam or no mam' 'yes sir or no sir. Always say thank you when someone does something nice for you and don't forget to smile, it lets people know your friendly and you mean it. Always be sure to hold doors open for people especially ladies and elders. Don't talk back to anyone, especially o me and your father, it's rude and you need to learn how to listen better, your mouth gets you in trouble quite a lot. "but what if they started it and aren't being fair?" LIfe isn't always fair sweetie and you need to learn how to overcome obstacles in your life without using your fists and harsh words. Now, when you talk to ladies always be nice and treat them with respect, they like that and good girls always go after good boys. It helps to wear clean cloths too, not cloths you pick up off the floor or out of the dirty laundry. "but sometimes the shirts I pick out smell fine..." Always look, smell and feel your best, it's good for you and make people see that your a good boy and you know how to take care of yourself. Do as your mother tells you and you'll find yourself going places and being a happy person, one day you'll find yourself a nice young lady and you'll be thanking me for telling you how to be respectful.

Dialog

I was sitting on a bench in the park one day I overheard two young people...

"Hello" the young man said to the woman playing with her dog. "Hello" she kindly answered. "

Lovely day today isn't it?" he said with a grin. The young woman answered back, "Yes, it really

is. I wish there were more days like today". The young man sat down and motioned for her to do

the same next to him. She smiled meekly and sat down. "For a beautiful woman such as

yourself" he held out a flower for her that he had just picked out of the ground". "Thank you kind

sir" She said accepting the flower and putting it in her hair. "I've missed you so much you know"

she said with a sigh and leaned onto his shoulder. "I know" he said with sadness in his eyes.

"Why can we just be together? It just doesn't seem fair." He turned to her, gently holding her

chin with his hand and kissed her. "I love you" he said smiling. "We can't be together right now

but I promise you that when I come back I'll be all yours, and we can start a family maybe." The

young woman looked up at him and gazed into his eyes. "I'll wait for you, no matter how long it

takes." " It won't be too long my dear, time will pass and before you know it I'll be back in your

arms and we can be together, happy, for as long as we live." The young man then stood up,

helping her up as he did, hugged her tightly and walked away. After watching him leave for a

minute or two she shouted "I love you!" with tears running down her face. She sat down and

started petting her dog as she watched the young man until she could see him no longer.

I was very moved by what I had just seen, and as I sat on that park bench I started to wonder

about what their story could have been.

Howl Immatation

I see the greatest mind of my generation fall into societies cradle...

I see destruction, ignorance, narcism, hubris, filth, and cruelty...

Men and women who fight just to live, live to fight and enjoy their pain and suffering...

Innocents being tortured unmercifully...

drunks, druggies, lazy selfish human beings that just get through life instead of living, and yet living the life they think is great and fantastic until they hit rock bottom and finally realize what they have done to themselves and others around them...

I see hope, truth, loyalty, faith, grace, purity, and purpose...

Men and women fighting for our future...

Pure souls giving hope to those of us that are willing to help ourselves and others...

Thinkers, hard workers, and lovers of this world and those in it, trying to save this planet that we live on and every living soul and creature on it...

I see both good and bad in this world, societies political leaders are a joke, controlling us and showing us who we should be and what we should think is good for us. We were not meant to be manipulated and yet we allow ourselves to be so easily. It's a rarity now that you find someone fighting, alone, but with great heart. I hope to one day see this as less of a rarity and more of a common occurrence. This planet is dying along with us. We're killing ourselves but there is hope...

Thirteen ways of looking at Hot Cheetos

I

Among multiple bags of chips
The bag that caught my eye
Was the Hot Cheetos bag

II

I was filled with joy,
Like a kid
In hopes of going to Disney Land

III

The Hot Cheetos called to me
It sounded like the rest

IV

A boy and a girl
Are one
A boy and a girl and a bag of hot Cheetos
Are one

V

I do not know how to choose
The morsel within reach
Or the money in my pocket
The Hot Cheetos calling
Or whatever

VI

I walk away
With my mouth watering
At the thought
Of those delicious
Hot Cheetos

Ode to the banana

I write an ode to you
A sweet yellow fruit
That in love to chew,
Swallow and digest

An ode to your taste
and health benefits
For you shall not go to waste
Not in my home

Oh! An ode to your peel
That keeps you safe
As if to seal
Your goodness from me

And finally and ode
To buying you from the store
Or picking you fresh off a tree
And bringing you to my humble abode
And eating you
For happy little me

Litany Imitation

You are the peanut butter and the jelly,
the cheese and the macaroni.
You are the milk to my chocolate chip cookie
and the water to quench my thirst.
You are the music to my ears,
and the comfort of a blanket.

However, you are not the stars in the night sky
Shadow in the ally,
or children playing in the streets.
And you are certainly not the bright colors of fall.
There is just no way that you are the bright colors of fall.

It is possible that you are smell of rain on the pavement,
maybe even the smile on a baby's face,
but you are not even close
to being the little hand on the grandfather clock.

And a quick look in the mirror will show
that you are neither the puppy
nor kitten at play.

It might interest you to know,
speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
that I am the newborn fawn in the meadow.

I also happen to be the blue in the sky,
Rainbow after it rains
and the fruit picked fresh in the morning.

I am also the birds in the sky
and the snails on the ground.
But don't worry, I'm not the peanut butter and the jelly.
You are still the peanut butter and the jelly.
You will always be the peanut butter and the jelly,
not to mention the cheese and--somehow--the macaroni.

Daniell's Introduction

Hello all,

My name is Danielle Crandall, I prefer to go by Danny, I know it's a little weird to spell it the guy way but I just like the way it looks better. Anyway, I'm a pretty shy person but don't be afraid to come up to me in class I'm friendly and like to make new friends. I'd especially like to make a friend or two in this class in case me or my new friend misses a class and we can help eachother out or just discuss class stuff together,
A little more about me: I'm a pretty creative person, I'm a sophmore and majoring in Graphic Design. Both my roomate and I have that same major. neither of us get out much we're not 'get out and do stuff' kind of girls lol but we like to go for walks together and that's pretty much all I do with my time besides work and hanging out with my bf.
Well I suppose that's all I'll write. If you would like to know more or get my number or something for class (or just to be a new friend) just let me know  :)

Have a good day!
-Danny
